The Problem That Started It All ðŠĶ
Picture this: You're planning a trip to Bali. Over the past year, you've saved 200+ Instagram reels of amazing cafes, hidden beaches, and sunset spots. Now you open Instagram to find them and... good luck scrolling through your saves for the next hour.
That's exactly what happened to Mrinmoyee last month. After wasting 2 hours trying to find specific Bali reels she KNEW she had saved, she turned to me (Sudipta) and said: "There HAS to be a better way!"
And that's when Trott was born - right in time for the RevenueCat Shipaton 2025.
Why We're Building in Public ðĒ
We're a couple from Hyderabad - Mrinmoyee (25, product designer) and Sudipta (26, developer). We both have full-time jobs and other projects, but we're committed to shipping Trott in the next 60 days. Here's why we're doing it publicly:
- Accountability: Nothing beats public pressure to ship fast
- Community: We want to build WITH our users, not FOR them
- Learning: Sharing our journey helps others (and us!)
- The Prize: Let's be honest, $65K would be life-changing
Our Master Plan ðŊ
Week 1-2: MVP Sprint
Core features: Share from Instagram â AI processing â Basic gallery view
Week 3-4: Viral Campaign
Launch #ReelGraveyard challenge, partner with travel influencers
Week 5-6: Scale & Iterate
Add AI chat, maps integration, RevenueCat monetization
Week 7-8: Polish & Ship
Bug fixes, performance optimization, final launch push
Tech Stack Decisions ð ïļ
We're still finalizing, but here's what we're thinking:
- Frontend: React Native or Flutter (deciding this week!)
- Backend: Node.js + Express (we already have this running)
- AI: OpenAI for video analysis + Pinecone for vector search
- Automation: n8n for content creation workflows
- Monetization: RevenueCat SDK (obviously!)
The #ReelGraveyard Movement ðŠĶ
Here's our secret weapon: We're turning the problem into a viral challenge. Before launch, we'll get people to share their "reel graveyards" - screen recordings of their endless saved travel reels they can never find.
Why we think it'll work:
- It's relatable AF (everyone has this problem)
- It's visual and shareable
- It creates demand before we even launch
- Travel influencers will love the engagement
